June 2026 Wetland Construction

We are one week into our month of wetland construction at Xwaaqw’um (Burgoyne Bay Provincial Park). This week saw the creation of five new wetlands in the upper Lee Creek area. This work was completed in the bottom of Fields 1 and 5 nearest the fenced wetlands. Three machines completed rough and loose around five wetland basins in 1.1 hectares.

The next three weeks work will be in Fields 6, 8 and 10 and will complete another four wetland basins.

Walkers can expect to see machines in and around the previous year’s wetlands and walking trails will have signage if we are using a multi-use trail for machine access. Minimal trucking can be expected June 8-12 on some of the main trails.
