Xwaaqw’um Plein Air Week

Stqeeye’ Learning Society invites members of the Salt Spring Painter’s Guild to join us in capturing the restoration work at Xwaaqw’um.

Dates: May 25-29, 2026
Where: Burgoyne Bay Provincial Park, the fields around the wetlands
What to bring: Your painting or sketching supplies, chair, sun hat, water and snacks.
Why: Collaborate to capture the changes at the park in an artistic form - making an art record of the wetlands that can be used to document the return of habitat. Any subject matter in the park is encouraged. A five or ten year retrospective plein air comparison will be planned, and an art show could be set up for 2031.
Who: Members of the Salt Spring Island Painter’s Guild and guests
Fee: Free
Accessibility: We can drive folks in with their easels and gear to set up anywhere in the lower portion of the park.
Toilets: We have two outhouses available in the area.
Parking: At the barns or along the road.
Note: Please, no dogs.
